Someone once said, “To get something done a committee should consist of three people, two of whom are absent.”
This was certainly not the case with our KeaneyShack Golf Tournament planning committee this year, which was led by the very capable, Nonie Whitesell. Nonie deserves a big thank you for keeping our committee on task and for being proactive in securing sponsorships, arranging things with the country club, and registering golfers.
Our 6th Annual KeaneyShack Tournament was hugely successful this year both in number of golfers and in funds raised for the charities. We had 125 participants, which is more than any previous tournament, and we raised over $20,000, which is also a record. This success would not have been possible without the help of many people here at Keane, our volunteers, and our sponsors. Thanks to everyone who pitched in to make it work. Funds raised will go to the HOPE Medical Project, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and the James E. Hofer Scholarship Fund (MGMA of Greater St. Louis).
The highlights of this year’s tournament were:
- Lots of volunteers
- Lots of golfers
- Lots of gophers (well, one gopher)
- Lots of sponsors
- Lots of vodka & Red Bull
- Lots of Smoothie King
- Lots of great weather
- Lots of beer
- Lots of good food
- Lots of laughs
As Carl the greens keeper put it, “In the immortal words of Jean Paul Sartre, ‘Au revoir, gopher!’” See ya next year.
